RMG Shifting Tenses by Susan Dobson
Regular price
$20.00
Susan Dobson captures in photographs, a sense of monotonous, repetitive design of suburbia. In these works, subtle differences between images of doorways, entrances and shrubbery emphasize the suburbanite yearning for unique character and the steps taken to enhance individuality. Housing developments are viewed by the artist as a metaphor for consumer culture at large, as in her view, uniformity of design has the negative impact of reducing individuality and choice of personal expression. Presented in the exhibition are photographs (sometimes edited for effect), alongside video projection, and large scale prints luminously displayed on light boxes.
