A collection of essays and artists’ contributions that are roughly divided between concrete histories and analysis, artists’ projects, and debates. This was a companion to the 1976 Art Metropole publication of “Video by Artists”. The volume emphasizes the larger context of video whereby video critiques and references mass media and existing culture. Included is Tom Sherman, Barbara London, Stuart Marshall, Klaus vom Bruch, Judith Barry, Raymond Bellour, General Idea, Jean-Paul Fargier, Dan Graham, Helmut Friedel, Peggy Gale, Colin Campbell and Chris Dercon.
